- Petro came, with John Smith, to visit us here at Almathera just before
- xmas last year. He gave us plenty of good news, plans for the future,
- promise of increased support and after he left we were fired up to
- continue Amiga development after a long period of uncertainty here..
-
- It turns out that almost immediately after Petro visited us, he went to
- Maidenhead and shut down the AT Uk operation, making people such as
- Jonathan Anderson and Sajid redundant, people who had been a constant
- help and important ally to Amiga developers in the UK.
-
- If it wasn't for Jonathan Anderson there would have been no Amiga Magic
- pack. They not only lost people who were invaluable to supporting and
- promoting the Amiga in the UK, they lost their only link between Amiga
- Technologies and the UK developer community. Who's talking to the games
- companies now? Jonathan Anderson was visiting them regularly to promote
- the Amiga and to try and get at least a few to restart development. From
- what he told me things were progressing well.
-
- By closing down AT UK they completely shattered the good feeling we had
- gained. It's been a hard fight here at Almathera to let us do *ANY* Amiga
- development at all. As it is, I'm still developing for the Amiga in spite
- of AT rather than because of them. Most of my Amiga development is done
- after office hours in my own time. If I was purely concerned about profit
- I'd have jumped entirely to PC development a long time ago. But the Amiga
- is something special. It's also a great machine to program for.
-
- Amiga Technologies will have to do a lot of wonderful things in the next
- few months to repair their tattered reputation, in my eyes at least. I
- hope they do. All companies, especially new ones, can make mistakes.
- Let's see what they can do to repair them...
